Author:Xinqinli / Date:2026-04-03

Recently, the 2025 "Maker Guangdong · Ingenuity Huizhou" Huizhou SME Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition successfully concluded. Guangdong Lightwit Photonics Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Lightwit Photonics") won the third prize in the enterprise group with its independently developed silicon photonic chip gas detection product, and was awarded the honorary trophy and certificate. This award is a high recognition by the industry of Lightwit Photonics' technological innovation strength and achievement transformation capability in the intelligent sensing field, and also injects strong impetus for the enterprise to further deepen the optoelectronics and intelligent sensing track and expand market applications.

It is reported that the "Maker Guangdong · Ingenuity Huizhou" Huizhou SME Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is guided by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Finance, hosted by the Huizhou Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology and the Huizhou Zhongkai High-tech Zone Management Committee, and undertaken by the Zhongkai High-tech Zone Management Committee Economic Development and Statistics Bureau. It is an important prefecture-level division of the "Maker Guangdong" provincial competition, having been successfully held for six sessions. It aims to discover high-quality projects and enterprises in the technology field, build an innovation and entrepreneurship service platform, guide social resources to support SME innovation and development, stimulate SME innovation and entrepreneurship vitality, and promote the quality improvement, upgrading and transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises, discovering numerous innovation "potential stocks" and entrepreneurship "high-quality stocks" for Huizhou and even the Greater Bay Area.

Since its launch, this competition has attracted 122 enterprises and maker teams from multiple cities in the Greater Bay Area to actively register, covering multiple popular tracks such as new energy, new materials, next-generation information technology, and intelligent sensing. After three months of registration, preliminary competition, training and other stages of screening, 40 high-quality projects successfully entered the finals, including 28 in the enterprise group and 12 in the maker group. The finals adopted an "8+4" competition system, namely 8 minutes of project presentation and 4 minutes of expert Q&A, with a professional jury composed of industry experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs conducting on-site evaluations from multiple dimensions including technical innovation, achievement transformation, market prospects, and business models, ensuring the professionalism, fairness, and authority of the selection.

As an innovative technology enterprise established in 2000, Lightwit Photonics' silicon photonic chip gas detection product participating in this competition stood out among numerous entries with its unique technological innovation, excellent product performance, and broad application prospects, ultimately winning the third prize in the enterprise group. The product's core relies on Lightwit Photonics' profound accumulation in silicon photonics technology and MEMS device research and development, integrating Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) technology principles, innovatively solving the "seesaw" dilemma of "low optical loss" and "high evanescent field ratio" in traditional silicon-based waveguides, achieving high-precision and miniaturization breakthroughs in gas detection.

Lightwit Photonics was established in 2000 and is a leading fiber optic communication device and intelligent sensor manufacturer based in China and serving the world. It is also a comprehensive solution provider for artificial intelligence, machine vision, and the Internet of Things, focusing on providing innovative technology and product solutions for customers in telecommunications, energy, transportation, environment, industry, and other fields worldwide, helping customers achieve efficient, intelligent, and safe development goals. Since its establishment, the enterprise has always adhered to the core concept of "innovation empowering development", taking technological innovation as the core development engine, continuously increasing R&D investment, building high-quality R&D teams, and establishing a solid foundation for enterprise innovation, providing solid guarantees for the research and development and implementation of various innovative products.

In terms of R&D strength construction, Lightwit Photonics has formed a professional team of 46 core R&D personnel, focusing on continuous deep cultivation in core fields such as optoelectronic devices and intelligent sensors, especially accumulating profound expertise in silicon photonic chips and MEMS device R&D. It has cumulatively obtained multiple patent certificates, forming a core technology system with independent intellectual property rights, effectively transforming scientific research results into market competitiveness. The silicon photonic chip gas detection product that won this award is a concentrated reflection of the enterprise's technological innovation and achievement transformation capabilities.

According to reports, this silicon photonic chip gas detection product adopts silicon-based photonic chip integration technology, utilizing mature semiconductor processes to integrate all optical components such as lasers, waveguides, and detectors onto a small chip. Compared with traditional gas detection equipment, it has significant advantages of miniaturization, low power consumption, high sensitivity, and strong stability. The product can achieve ppb (parts per billion) level trace gas detection, accurately identify various gas components and concentrations such as methane and carbon dioxide, with a fitting coefficient of over 0.99, and the measurement results are accurate and reliable. It has broad application prospects in environmental monitoring, industrial safety, medical health, urban underground pipeline network monitoring and other fields, and can be widely used for real-time warning and detection in chemical plants, coal mines, environmental monitoring and other scenarios, with huge market application potential.

The R&D head of Lightwit Photonics stated that winning the third prize in this competition is both an honor and an inspiration. The award of this product fully proves the market value and industry recognition of silicon photonic chip gas detection technology, and also demonstrates the enterprise's innovation strength in the intelligent sensing field. In the future, the enterprise will take this competition as an opportunity to continuously increase core technology R&D efforts, further optimize the performance of silicon photonic chip gas detection products, overcome more technical difficulties, promote the large-scale production and market application of products, and expand the application boundaries of products in more fields.

At the same time, Lightwit Photonics will continue to adhere to the original intention of innovation, deepen industry-university-research collaborative innovation, continuously improve the innovation management system, focus on technology research and product innovation in the fields of optoelectronics and intelligent sensing, enrich the product matrix, and enhance the core competitiveness of the enterprise.
