Nepal Telecom (Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited, or NT) has revealed it plans to construct a fibre-optic link with China by the end of fiscal year 2010/11, Republica reports. State-owned NT has reportedly held talks with China Telecom regarding the project, under the remit of a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the pair in 2008. Anoopranjan Bhattarai, the deputy managing director at NT's planning division, says the proposed link will interconnect the two telcos' networks at Tatopani and Rasuwa stations on the Nepal-China border. NT has already developed necessary infrastructures at the Tatopani station but is yet to build infrastructures at Rasuwa station, according to Bhattarai.
